David’s sin with Bathsheba was the darkest (recorded) moment of his life. His list of sins in 2 Samuel 11 is lengthy and includes some of the worst things any human being can be guilty of: murder, adultery, betrayal, to name a few.
How do you come back from something like that? How do you regain any sense of spiritual strength to ask God for forgiveness?
Fortunately, we have David’s exact recipe for what to do after you sin laid out in Psalm 51. You have to acknowledge your sin, cleanse your sin, and then learn from your sin. The sequence isn’t that hard; the difficulty is in our willingness to follow through with those actions.
