We know that Jesus is powerful. After all, He raised the dead, gave sight to the blind, and “rebuked” nature. There’s no doubt that He can do whatever He wants, any time He wants.
But is it possible for Him to calm my soul?
Our lives can be full of anxiety, fear, suspicion, danger, and sadness. We call on God to help us, but do we actually believe He can? Or, more specifically, how can we be know if He has?
For that, we turn to the Psalms of Lament. These psalms make up nearly 1/3 of the book of Psalms, and they are very relatable when we find ourselves in tough times. They also teach us a lot about our own faith and how it practically intersects with the world around us.

ClosePrayer is automatic. It's a natural response to the circumstances around us, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't learn how to pray properly. The words matter, but Jesus also puts a lot of emphasis on perseverance and confidence as well.
