Decide...That Alcohol Isn't Worth It
From Series: "Decide! (Hillside Theme - 2024)"
The word for Hillside in 2024 is "Decide." Will we choose to follow God, or will we choose to serve ourselves?

Mothers give up a lot to become mothers. By at least one estimate, the simple choice to stay home with your child the first five years of their life can cost as much as $700,000 in lost wages, retirement benefits, and future earnings (among others).
But most mothers don’t sit down and decide whether that $700k is more important to them than having a child to begin with. Why? Because at the end of the day, that child is worth it — no matter the cost. Whatever decision is made about your work (stay home, daycare, etc), having a baby is worth waaaay more than $700k to most moms.
The same is true for Christians. In Luke 14, Jesus tells the crowds to “count the cost” of becoming a Christian. Decide if what you’re asked to give up is worth it compared to what you will gain.
If so, follow Him fully. If not, why even start?
For the record, it’s worth it. So, so, so worth it.

CloseNowhere in the Bible does it say that you can't take a single sip of alcohol, but there are dozens of passages that talk about why you should never start. Talk to anyone that's seen a life, a family, or a relationship, destroyed by drinking, and you'll understand why. Here are four things to consider before you take that first drink.
