A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Evangelism becomes a lot easier once we realize the need for evangelism in the first place.
But we already see the need, don’t we? God tells us to do it and we do it — simple as that, right?
It should be, but the need for evangelism has its roots in a proper understanding of grace and mercy. Once we realize the gift that’s been given to us, it should be natural for us to extend it to others.
To put it simply, maybe the reason we don’t evangelize as we should is because we fail to see our own need for salvation — and in turn, fail to see the need of others.

CloseIf you want to impress God, the last thing you need to do is show up with a bunch of fancy items you *hope* God wants. Huge displays of religiosity and meaningless gestures are worthless if they're not accompanied by actual devotion and humility. The Centurion of Matthew 7 displayed the latter. His understanding of authority, humility, and ultimately compassion demonstrated what was really in his heart. The result was that Jesus "marveled" at the "great faith" that he possessed.
