A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Nearly a third of Jesus’ teachings consisted of stories, or parables. These seemingly innocent tales were not just given for entertainment though — they were designed to penetrate the heart in a way a series of commands couldn’t. They forced the listener to meditate on the teachings and make the change from the inside out. As such, they were exceedingly effective.
Can we use parables today? Of course! Maybe not in the same way as Jesus, but using illustrations can still be effective if handled properly.

CloseWhen people say they're looking for a "perfect church," what they're usually saying is they're looking for a church that has zero problems, everyone is happy, and constantly growing. That church doesn't exist. Instead of looking for it, we should instead find a place where we can actively contribute to the work that is going on. One where we can show each other the love that Christ has shown us and where we can work to build together. Those churches are everywhere. It may even be the one you're attending right now.
