A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Nearly a third of Jesus’ teachings consisted of stories, or parables. These seemingly innocent tales were not just given for entertainment though — they were designed to penetrate the heart in a way a series of commands couldn’t. They forced the listener to meditate on the teachings and make the change from the inside out. As such, they were exceedingly effective.
Can we use parables today? Of course! Maybe not in the same way as Jesus, but using illustrations can still be effective if handled properly.

CloseAn acrostic is a poem, word puzzle, or other composition in which certain letters in each line form a word or words. It's an easy way to remember something that's really important so you can recall it later. It also explains the entirety of a subject, such as Psalm 119 does with the Word of God.
