A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Nearly a third of Jesus’ teachings consisted of stories, or parables. These seemingly innocent tales were not just given for entertainment though — they were designed to penetrate the heart in a way a series of commands couldn’t. They forced the listener to meditate on the teachings and make the change from the inside out. As such, they were exceedingly effective.
Can we use parables today? Of course! Maybe not in the same way as Jesus, but using illustrations can still be effective if handled properly.

CloseThoughts and prayers are meaningless without action -- or so the world says about Christians. Are they right? Kinda. While prayer is powerful, there's no question that prayer without any kind of action is basically just noise. If we're going to believe in something, worship something, and pray to Someone, our life should reflect it.
