A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Nearly a third of Jesus’ teachings consisted of stories, or parables. These seemingly innocent tales were not just given for entertainment though — they were designed to penetrate the heart in a way a series of commands couldn’t. They forced the listener to meditate on the teachings and make the change from the inside out. As such, they were exceedingly effective.
Can we use parables today? Of course! Maybe not in the same way as Jesus, but using illustrations can still be effective if handled properly.

CloseWhen Hebrews 4 says that Jesus was "tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin" and James 1 says that "God cannot be tempted," what exactly does that mean? Was Jesus tempted by Satan in Matthew 4, or was He not? It may sound like an impossible question, but there are points that have to be considered when looking at this Text. Some of which have huge implications for our own personal faith.
