A message from the series “Toolbox for Evangelism.” Nearly a third of Jesus’ teachings consisted of stories, or parables. These seemingly innocent tales were not just given for entertainment though — they were designed to penetrate the heart in a way a series of commands couldn’t. They forced the listener to meditate on the teachings and make the change from the inside out. As such, they were exceedingly effective.
Can we use parables today? Of course! Maybe not in the same way as Jesus, but using illustrations can still be effective if handled properly.

CloseWorshipping God should be something we look forward to doing, not something that's an obligation. We can take cues on how to fully appreciate our worship from Psalm 122 - David's "Song of Ascents" that was sung by Jews as they marched to Jerusalem for worship.
