But that doesn’t mean it isn’t important.
For an audience that is trying to make the leap from Judaism to Christianity, what they needed more than anything else was conviction. They needed to know — beyond a shadow of a doubt — that what they were following was true.
The alternative is half-hearted belief, which almost always wilts away in the face of persecution.
